That is how much laundry time a week the average American family saves when using LG TurboWash technology vs. standard washing cycles. Not only does LG TurboWash shave thirty minutes to an hour off average cycle lengths - even for large loads - it also cleans clothes to the highest quality, saving you time without compromising performance.

We all have busy lives, and we shouldn't be wasting time on laundry - and LG agrees. What is LG TurboWash?

TurboWash is an optional built-in feature of LG top load washers and LG front load washers. It speeds up the washing cycle using powerful water jets and high-speed washing machine drum rotations to eliminate dirt while cleaning quickly. This is done through a combination of powerful jet washers inside a rotating drum that move clothes inside the machine to rub against each other while wet, encouraging the removal of dirt and stains in combination with targeted jet-washer spraying.

LG TurboWash technology also uses less water and energy than standard designs. The short cycles inherent to the technology mean you need less detergent per cycle, meaning, in turn, that the creeping moldy smell that can sometimes build up in machines is eliminated. And you have spotless clothes, too!

How Does LG TurboWash Work?

LG TurboWash combines multiple innovative technologies to keep clothes clean quickly. These technologies work in combination with one another to create the ultimate high-speed washing experience. Read on to take a closer look at each of them:

Powerful Water Jets

Water is sprayed at high pressure onto the clothes inside the washing drum via water jets installed strategically throughout the inside of the machine. The flow of water created by these jets targets dirt and stains on your clothes at such a force that even the toughest stains are removed from the fabric's fibers.

High-speed Rotations

While the high-pressure water jets blast the clothes and remove stains, the LG TurboWash machines quickly turn the clothes. This aids in cleaning the clothes by adjusting the jet washers' target, allowing clothes to scrub against one another as one would when cleaning clothes by hand and helping in a thorough and deep clean.

Detergent Distribution

Most people never consider the inner workings of appliances in their home, like their LG washing machines. Luckily, TurboWash technology will look after our clothes with care, and we needn't pay much attention to what's happening inside our machine once we hit 'go.' TurboWash technologies optimize detergent use as they work with high-speed jet washers and rapid rotation of the washing machine drum to distribute the detergent evenly throughout the load. As the clothes scrub together inside the drum, the detergent works with them, ensuring the highest quality washing experience for your clothes.

Due to this combined cleaning effort, you can even achieve great washing results using smaller amounts of detergent. You need only about one tablespoon per load, with a maximum of about two tablespoons for larger loads. This may seem like too little, but as the TurboWash uses less water, it will keep your clothes cleaner and save on that mildew smell that can sometimes develop in front-loading washing machines. Plus, you'll even save on laundry detergent!

Customizable Settings

While the LG washer TurboWash technology is marketed simply as a quick and thorough washing feature, you can adjust the settings to accommodate your needs and preferences. You can change the washing settings according to the types of clothes you are washing and depending on the amount of clothes you want to pass.

Specifying your washing requirements ensures your clothes are perfectly washed with every load. This is because a significant feature of the TurboWash is its ability to clean consistently and effectively regardless of load size. An enormous load will take longer, requiring more water, energy, and detergent, whereas a smaller load will require less. Letting your washing machine know what you are washing and how you want it passed will make an efficient machine all the more effective.

Intuitive Controls

When you specify which settings you want for your TurboWash load, intuitive controls are designed to ease the process. A user-friendly interface allows you to select the wash cycle you want, adjust settings, and monitor how your wash is doing. Intuitive and easy to use, these controls are designed for all of us to understand and use.

LG TurboWash technology on an LG washer is about teamwork. The jets push water through the clothes, targeting dirt and grime, while the drum rotates quickly to scrub clothes together as the detergent cleans everything it can reach. It involves you, too. The user's role in selecting the correct settings for particular loads means the washing machine works more effectively for what you need it for, optimizing its performance.

TurboWash vs. Standard Wash

LG TurboWash and standard wash cycles represent two different approaches to laundry, each with its own set of advantages and considerations. Here's a comparison of these two washing methods:

Performance

TurboWash cycles are known for their remarkable cleaning performance. They employ high-pressure jets and innovative drum movements to thoroughly agitate clothes and remove dirt and stains effectively. On the other hand, standard wash cycles, while effective, may take longer to complete. They typically rely on conventional agitators or drum movements to clean clothes, which can be gentler but may require more time for thorough cleaning.

Time

TurboWash cycles are designed to be significantly faster than standard cycles, lasting only 30 minutes. They leverage advanced technology to expedite the washing process, making them an excellent choice for those seeking time-saving convenience. Standard wash cycles tend to be longer, often ranging from 60 to 90 minutes or more. While this allows for a gentler washing action, it may not be as convenient for individuals with busy schedules.

Water Usage

TurboWash technology is known for its efficient use of water. It optimizes water usage, contributing to environmental conservation and potentially leading to lower water bills. Standard cycles may use more water, especially in traditional top-loading machines. This can be less water-efficient in comparison.

Gentle on Clothes

TurboWash cycles are designed to be gentle on clothes despite their shorter duration. The innovative drum movements and careful balancing ensure that your garments experience minimal wear and tear. Standard cycles, particularly those with gentle settings, prioritize the preservation of clothes. They tend to have slower and more delicate agitations.

If you value time-saving convenience and efficiency, LG TurboWash is an excellent choice. It allows you to complete laundry quickly and effectively, making it ideal for busy households.

FAQs

Does TurboWash use more electricity?

The short answer is no. A TurboWash in your LG washing machine uses less electricity than standard washing cycles. This is because it uses shorter washing cycles. It also results in cold water savings and warmth throughout your LG washer.

What are the benefits of a turbo drum washing machine?

A turbo drum washing machine offers superior cleaning performance thanks to its innovative drum design that incorporates rotating pulsators and powerful water jets. This combination ensures thorough and efficient washing, even for heavily soiled garments, while being gentle on your clothes.

What is Turbo steam wash?

An internal heater transforms water into steam used in the TurboWash steam wash in the pre-wash, wash, and post-wash cycles (when selected). This combination of steam and water to clean fabrics helps in the removal of wrinkles, as well as sanitizing your clothes.
